Learning to rediscover who I am based on the knowledge I have today while still unpacking all the baggage of my past. Despite once living an "alternative lifestyle", I now today stand as a woman of God who is married (to a guy :-P) that has three healthy, awesome little kiddos. I'm currently working through the struggle that is PTSD and am overcoming it with gardening.

Beef Stock Recipe
1 large onion, peeled and quartered
1 large carrot, sliced lengthwise or 2-3 handfuls of baby carrots
1 large celery stalk, halved
2 large garlic cloves, peeled or dried garlic powder
4 quarts cold water
1 bunch parsley
1 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp dried dill
1 tsp salt
6 whole black peppercorns
1 large bay leaf
1 large tomato, halved (optional)
Place beef, onion and carrot in large greased roasting pan and roast 20-30 minutes in 400 degree oven until browned. Transfer vegetables and meat to stockpot, pouring any juices into stockpot as well. Bring mixture to simmer, cover and continue to simmer for 3 hours. Do not boil - this will produce a nasty looking foam that you will need to skim off. Strain stock through sieve. Chill stock and remove any fat that rises to the top. Stock can be frozen up to 3 month's.
Personally, I prefer to not skim off the fat because that acts as a "second seal" to keep out the freezer smell. When your ready to use it, after it's defrosted, then skim off the fat and use as you normally would.

Vegan/Kosher/GF Crockpot Baked Beans
2 small onions, diced
1 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 c. brown sugar (I use light but dark will add a hint of molasses)
1 1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/4 c. brown rice syrup (Lundberg is GF) or maple syrup
1 c. tomato sauce (or thin some tomato paste with water to equal this amount)
Pour all ingredients into a crockpot and stir to combine thoroughly. Turn crockpot on low and allow to slowly heat for 6-8 hours. Watch consistency of bean sauce, taste test throughout the time to see if it needs more sweetness or salt for your personal tastes. I dip potato chips into baked beans so I prefer a bit more sauce but cook to your tastes.
GF/Egg/Dairy & Vegan Potato Salad
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/4 c. chopped onion (if you don't have raw onion use onion powder to taste)
2 tsp. dried dill
1/2 c. vegenaise (click here for website info)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. celery salt
1/4 tsp. white pepper
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
Place potatoes, celery and onion in large bowl. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl and whisk. Pour over potato mixture and toss until thoroughly coated. Refrigerate until serving time.

Frugal Tips - Babies/Kids
(2) Let your friends hold a baby shower for you, if they have the desire then by all means, let them have fun. You will get tons of clothing, shoes, diapers, etc. Keep all receipts so that you can return copies to the store and any extra items you won't need.
(3) Breast feed if possible, formula runs anywhere from $10 - $30 a can depending on whether it's on sale or full price. Consult nurses and lactation consultants to see if your able to get your baby to nurse. If your unable to breast feed, contact as many formula companies and sign up to get coupons. Combine sale formula and coupons to save even more money.
(4) Make baby food at home from foods that your family regularly eats, but don't waste money on special food processor's when most families already have a full size food processor that will work just fine. If your baby absolutely turns his/her nose up at the consistency you create, buy a few jars from the store (using COUPONS) and attempt to get the right consistency. If all else fails, only buy baby food when it's on sale and you have coupons to go with it.
(5) Have a kids clothing swap with your friends, your kids will have the chance to get a new wardrobe as well as new shoes or toys.
(6) If you know someone that got kids just a bit older then yours, ask if you can have the hand-me-down's for your child.
(7) Don't give your kiddos juice, it's very expensive and it's bad for their teeth. Water is super cheap and much healthier than the most 100% juice product out there. If they want to toddle around with a sippy cup in their hand or take one to bed, fill it with water. No matter how cheap you think juice is, the end results is cavities and fillings are pretty expensive and stressful for your kid to go through.
(8) Don't buy into those little jars of diced fruit and vegetables, just purchase regular cans of fruit (in natural juice) and vegetables. You can cut these up into small bite size pieces for a fraction of the cost.
(9) Don't buy snacks foods (even those marketed for kids), if you start your kid on an early path to junk food they will grow up expecting that as part of their daily meals. Even snacks marketed for children are not a necessity if they have variety in their diets. Snack foods are one of the most expensive products in the grocery store.
(10) Don't sign your kids up for ballet, soccer or basketball in their toddler years, rarely will kids stick to one thing for their entire life. If you need some type of outing, look in a local family magazine for free things to do as a family. When the time comes for them to get involved in extra curricular activities, they should be old enough to take small jobs to earn money to pay for what they want. This method should quickly show children just how far $1 goes in today's world.

Current Update
We spoke to a loan officer at a bank we use and found out that our credit score is 805 and that because of that we should only need $2,000 to start up the process of getting a loan for a house in Port Orange, and we spoke to a realtor about a house we are interested in and things seem like they would go smoothly. If we are able to get a home in a few month's we will most likely spend 2 weeks in Port Orange (to be close to Chris) and 2 weeks in Jacksonville (to pack and attend my OB/GYN appointments) each month until the birth. The latter half of August and the month of September we should be here in Jacksonville if I don't go into labor early.
We also have found out that our neighbor is interested in our plot to buy and use for his RV so we may be able to get a good bit of money for the piece and at the same time have a relative that's interested in buying our house. We had originally planned to have it moved but now that God has opened the doors to sell separately the property and the land, we plan on going with that option. We may possibly be able to get some extra money to put towards a house in Port Orange even with having to pay off the remainder on this mortgage.
Right now we are of course being frugal with our finances but are hoping God will provide the money needed soon so that Chris and our family will be able to spend time together and not be apart so much. So prayers in that direction would be great!

Dairy Free Milkshake
1 1/2 c. cold vanilla rice milk
About 1 1/2 - 2 trays of ice
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla (if desired)
2 T. olive oil plus a 5-second squirt of pan spray
Blender should be about 3/4 full of ice. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 2 minutes. Do not omit any ingredients or the milkshake will not form. The oil and pan spray is needed for emulsification purposes and to give a creamy texture and appearance. It will have an appearance similar to a Wendy's frosty but much healthier, with no artificial flavors or colors and most ingredients are found at home.
You can omit the cocoa powder and only 1/2 c. sugar with 1 T. pure vanilla extract for a vanilla shake.
Add 1 ripe banana and you get a chocolate banana milkshake.
Reduce ice cup by cup for frozen strawberries and adjust sugar to your tastes to get a strawberry shake.
Add a scoop of rice protein powder to add protein and other essential aminos to your shake.

Take a stroll through the riverside arts market where the theme of the market is to BUY LOCAL! If you get hungry you can stop into the food court where neighborhood chefs from area restaurants prepare everything from gourmet hot dogs to international cuisine. While your there why not do some grocery shopping from local farmers? Buy vegetables, fruit, honey, eggs, cheese and organic treats all in one spot.
Children are welcome as well as dogs, however they need to be on a leash/harness and you are responsible for them at all times. I guess the above statement would be true for the kiddos as well. :-)

Update on the de Vidal family
Baby Update: We found out we are having a little girl and she will be due September 4th. :-)
Prayer Needs: We will be needing a substantial amount of money because we have no clothes for our upcoming baby girl (we don't have any lace or pink up in this house), and because we won't be able to leave our current house we will need to not only have this one moved down to Daytona but purchase a home and land in Daytona big enough for two homes. So please be in prayer that God will provide for us in these times.

Gluten Free Tortilla Recipe
1/2 c. corn meal
1 tsp xantham gum
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
3/4 to 1 c. room temp. water
Whisk dry ingredients together. Form a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add about 1/4 c and mix with your hands. Continue adding water 1/4 c. at a time to achieve consistency.
Due to flours reacting differently (absorption wise) to liquids, you will need to adjust liquid depending on what's used. Dough should just leave the sides of the bowl.
Separate the dough into 6-8 balls, then place dough in between two sheets of parchment or cling wrap and roll out thinly. Dust with rice flour as needed. Heat skillet or griddle and gently lay out the tortilla in the pan. Cook for approx. 1-2 minutes on each side. Your looking for them to just barely develop little brown spots, once both sides have them your tortilla is done.
**** These do not make good leftover tortillas, so only make what you need. I have however heard of mom's rolling these out and freezing them in between wax paper but have not tried this myself. ****

Why I love the farmer's market!
Even in these economic times we are truly blessed with the bounty that our own people are capable of growing. What a great God we have, that even through our toiling in the soil and being at the hands of crazy temperatures, our soil is still able to bear much produce for the mouth's of our children.

Angel Food Ministries
www.angelfoodministries.com
This is a non-profit, non-denominational and christian organization that provides restaurant quality meats, vegetables, fruits, etc. at reasonable prices. They provide three main choices for you to choose from: (1) Regular Box (2) Senior/Convenience Box (3) Allergen Free Box. The items all vary depending on the month and what is available to the organization.
In order to know the last day to place your order, just select the closest church near to you and it will give you the last day and times for ordering. For example, the Titus Harvest Dome Church has an order by date for today from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.
They also take credit/debit cards, cash, EBT, and money orders. See individual sites for details.
My mom is interested in the organization so for her I may be making regular trips down to the Titus Harvest Dome Church to pick up her orders and might possibly be able to pick up orders for those who would like to drive to my house. Just a thought.

Super Target Produce Deals - New
FL Strawberries $.99lb
The only Super Target (as far as I know) is in Orange Park so if you don't live in OP and want to take advantage of this deal, I'd suggest you buy up a huge amount of strawberries to make it worth the trip.
So far, this is the BEST deal I have seen so far on Strawberries. I purchased 6lbs for $9.99 at BJ's Warehouse this Friday, these however were from California so they may have a different sweetness than FL ones. Anywho, that's about $1.66 lb, already stemmed and ready to use. It should save you $.67lb, and take approx. 20-30 minutes to stem all the strawberries to freeze, unless you have multiple hands helping you out.
This would be a great deal if you were doing say 10+ lbs and have multiple hands as you could freeze many pounds and have local produce saved up for the whole year.

Gluten Free Corn Dogs
1/2 c. rice flour
2/3 c. corn meal
1/4 c. tapioca starch
1/4 c. potato starch
2 T. sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground mustard
3/4 c. rice milk
2 T. oil
Extra rice flour
Oil for frying
Whisk dry ingredients together, add remaining wet ingredients. Cut hot dogs in half and lightly roll in extra rice flour. If cornmeal mixture is too thick, add small amounts of rice milk until you reach a good consistency. Heat oil, roll hotdogs in cornmeal batter and then slide into hot oil, fry 2-3 minutes on each side until a nice brown coating is on both sides. Strain on paper towels, sprinkle with salt, allow to cool and enjoy!
Gluten Free Biscuits with Sausage & Gravy
** Biscuits **
1/2 c. potato starch
3/4 c. cornstarch
1 3/4 tsp. xantham gum
1 T. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 T. sugar
1/3 c butter (or 1/4 c. canola oil)
3/4 c. buttermilk (or 2 T less rice milk and 1 T. fresh lemon juice)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Add dry ingredients to bowl, excluding xantham gum. If you add this now it will make the biscuits more gummy textured. Whisk to mix dry ingredients. Add fat (butter or oil) as well as milk, whisk together thoroughly. Finally, mix in the xantham until it combines. Don't overmix. Scoop dough into sprayed muffin cups or non-stick pan. Makes about 4-6 depending on size of muffin pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes until biscuits are golden. Use a spoon to lift out the muffins and cool on wire rack. These are very gooey in the center while hot, but you can toss them in either a cinnamon sugar mixture or powdered sugar to get something similar to a beignet or donut. If you let these cool completely you will have biscuits just like the ones containing wheat.
** Breakfast Sausage with Gravy **
SAUSAGE
1 lb ground pork, chicken, turkey or beef
1 tsp ground sage
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp dried savory
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
GRAVY
1 1/4 c. gluten free broth
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp ground sage
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp poultry seasonings
Thickener of your choice:
2 T. cornstarch, 4 T. rice flour or 6 T tapioca starch
1/2 c. rice milk or gluten free broth
Blend all ingredients together in large mixing bowl using your hands or spatula. Preheat skillet, add olive or canola oil if using low fat meats. Cook until it crumbles and is no longer pink. If there is a good amount of grease, soak up with paper towel. Add 1 1/4 c broth, seasonings and turn head to med-high. In a small bowl, mix rice milk (or broth) with your choice of thickener making a thin paste. Pour thickener into meat/broth mixture and whisk gently until mixture comes to a boil. Adjust consistency by adding more thickener or broth. Serve warm over biscuits.

Charles Spurgeon Quote
Good scripture verses..
A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
2 Peter 1:3 - 4
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Psalm 40:11-12
As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain
your mercy from me;
your steadfast love and your faithfulness will
ever preserve me!
For evils have encompassed me
beyond number;
my iniquities have overtaken me,
and I cannot see;
they are more than the hairs of my head;
my heart fails me.

Tidbits from my study on parenting
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
[2] Sin is bound up the heart of your child(ren):
"Folly is bound up in the heart of a child" Proverbs 22:15
[3] Sin is not a laughable matter:
No matter how "small" the sin may seem, Christ was crucified for it, and therefore it is not really a "small" matter, nor a laughable one.
Mark 7:21-22
For from within, out of the heart of man (this includes women and children), come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.
Luke 6:45
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart his mouth speaks.

Must Try Product!
This week's MUST TRY PRODUCT:
Liz Lovely's Gluten Free Chocolate Fudge Cookies
These cookies are better than anything Nabisco could ever put out, and 100 times better for you. Not only does the company make GLUTEN FREE cookies, but they also make cookies that contain wheat but are vegan (no eggs, animal products, etc). Now normally, gluten free cookies taste anything but yummy and the same goes with vegan cookies, they are normally just horrible for the palate. My husband and I both agree, these are awe-mazing cookies and something you have to try at least once.
To find these yummy morsels, you can check out Native Sun's refrigerated section where they keep their already prepared cake slices and other items near the cafe/deli area at the 9A & Baymeadows store. They are $3+ for two very large cookies, and are worth every penny.
Check out their website at lizlovely.com and like most health food store companies, their hippie but man do they make some delicious cookies! :0)

What's your motivation?
you will be noticed by others?
you will be loved by others?
you will be praised for your effort?
you alone will get credit?
you will be seen as a good example?
If these are your motivation, then you are bound to legalism. What is legalism?
Legalism: the doctrine that salvation is gained through good works.
Salvation: deliverance from the power and penalty of sin; redemption.
Redemption: deliverance from sin; salvation.
Luke 18: 9-14
"He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Show No Favoritism
"My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called? If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it."
[1] We should not show favoritism over he/she that dresses in more expensive and fine clothing and ignore he/she that does not dress that way. We should keep in mind, that just because something looks "clean" on the inside, that doesn't necessarily mean they are God fearing and seek the Lord's word on the inside.
[2] We should show no favoritism with one race versus the other, if we say we love the Lord and follow him, then we should remember that it was him who created all races and we should therefore show no favoritism over one.
[3] We should show no favoritism between men and women, God created both and set each to have specific tasks, each one was uniquely created by God, one was not better than the other.
[4] We should show no favoritism between native born and foreigner, one is not better than the other because it was God who allowed each to step foot on the same land. It was God who willed their paths to cross. As Americans, we must always remember in fact that *we* are foreigners in this land, not only because our ancestors were not native to this country but also because this is a temporary land for those who believe in Christ.
[5] Show no partiality between children, if one excels in sport and the other in computers, one is not better than the other. God simply crafted each child differently, to have different interests and do well in a specific area.
How do we who show favoritism claim to be followers of Christ?
James 2:9-10
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it."

Proverbs 29:17 & Commentary Notes
Believers Bible Commentary:
A child who has been disciplined properly will bring delight and rest to his parents instead of anxiety and heartache.
Proverbs 29:15 & Commentary notes
Believers Bible Commentary:
" This proverb flatly contradicts many modern specialists who advocate "permissive democracy". The rod is corporal punishment; reproof is verbal correction. These two forms of parental discipline impart wisdom. They do not inhibit a child or warp his personality as the "experts" say.
Ephesians 6:4 and commentary
The Believers Bible Commentary (by William MacDonald) opens up this scripture by saying, " The instructions to children are now balanced with advice to fathers. they should not provoke their children to anger with unreasonable demands, with undue harshness, with constant nagging. Rather children should be nurtured in the TRAINING and ADMONITION of the Lord. Training means discipline and correction, and may be verbal or corporal. Admonition means warning, rebuke and reproof. Child-training should be "in the Lord", that is, carried out in accordance with His Will as revealed in the Bible by one who acts as his representative."
Susanna Wesley, the mother of seventeen children, including John and Charles, once wrote:
"The parent who studies to subdue self-will in his child, works together with God in the renewing and saving of a soul. The parent who indulges it, does the Devil's work, makes religion impractical, salvation unattainable, and does all that in him lies to damn his child, soul and body forever."
I also personally believe that Mother's could benefit from this scripture, as well as the commentary information.

End of 1st Trimester
After having numerous weeks of daily nausea it seems to have receded and allowed me once again to return to church, though nausea is somehow a good sign that your pregnancy is progressing well so maybe that nausea thing wasn't as bad as I made it out to be. At least it was a good indicator, guess prayer and trusting God has a lot more lasting effect spiritually. :-)
On another note, I was recently told by my doctor's office that due to my insurance ending in January I would have to pay out of pocket almost $4,000 by 24 weeks or they would no longer see me. About a week or so ago my doctor's office called to let me know that my insurance was no longer active (really....had no clue!), and that it again was reinforced that I would have to pay them their requested amount by 24 weeks. Well, God blessed us with a couple thousand more than that in severance pay from Chris' previous job and that really was going to be a huge chunk out of our small stash of money. I briefly mentioned to the lady that I knew their office didn't take medicaid (was told they didn't serve "those types of women", before they knew I was signing up for it), but did the hospital itself. I was then assured that the hospital itself took medicaid but not the doctors and yet again, they wanted their cash ASAP. Can you tell money is muy importante to medical people? Anywho, so I just spoke to the Father in confusion as to how we would live without that huge chunk of cash but reaffirmed my knowledge that in Him all things would be worked out. About a minute or so after my moment with the Father, the doctor's office called back letting me know that since I was a current patient that they would allow me to use medicaid to take care of the pregnancy and that I just needed to bring in information on my next visit. So God has really come through with us and allowed that money to stay safe and be used to care for us through Chris' being laid off.
God has continued to be steadfast in providing for our needs. What a Father.

(9) Think of a way to greet your spouse today to reflect your love for them, and then do it with a smile and enthusiasm.
I Peter 5:14 “Greet one another with the kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.”
(10) Do something out of the ordinary today for your spouse.
Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Today's Scripture Bite
I haven't been able to read scripture in the last few weeks (have been able to at least get in a couple sermons) due to extreme tiredness and nausea, but this morning woke up with a scripture in my head for some reason. Most people should know, for me to remember a verse is quite a feat so I really feel like this scripture came from God. I said to myself, "Okay, what should I read this morning?" and having no clue what the verse actually said simply turned in scripture to find my help.
Ephesians 5:2
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
As I eagerly wait for God to answer my need for Grace in this time of my life I'm encouraged by the scripture tid bit he brought to me this morning.

Update For Those Who Didn't Know
We have also found out that I am once again pregnant with our third baby, due approximately in August or September. Our insurance runs out at the end of the month so I have so far made a confirmation appointment with my OB/GYN (yeah that morning nausea thing isn't a give away at all), and hopefully before my insurance runs out at the end of the month I can get in one more appointment. After that it's all in God's hands and we eagerly wait for him to keep care of his flock of children.
Chris has received an offer to do some side work for a previous boss of his and there's talk of him possibly being taken on as a full time worker but this was a previous desire and the boss was unable to pay him what he was making at his previous job. God is good and this guy has been very kind to Chris over the years and we are greatful that he would respond so kindly to hiring Chris on.
Anyway, we appreciate and covet your prayers. :-)
The roles women play in society - the frank truth..
The Lord has personally redeemed me from some of these titles and it's only by the grace of God that I can even today take in the beauty of being set aside by the Father, to be chosen as one of the few to bring glory to Him who saved me from such a heart wrenching life.
Please keep an open mind and realize that these of course are not in some biblical, numerical correct way but are simply an open and frank realization of where the women in America (and other countries, I'm sure) stand.
(1) Single
Definition: unmarried, only one in number, unmarried state, solitary, sole
Looks Like: I would say the biblical definition would be a female who does not "date" nor have sexual intercourse or rather any physically sexual connection with a man. Meaning she does not consent to have sex whether intercourse or oral, she does not allow a man to sexual approach her in any way but is chaste. Single can however mean that you have an unwavering desire to be courted which eventually will end in marriage, but there is to be sexual purity during this time.
(2) Married
Definition: joined, united in wedlock
Looks Like: A man and woman (sadly that needs specification these days) that are bound together not only by documents and a shiny band, but a desire to spend an eternity together with one another. A courting couple who seeks to "solidify" the desire to be wed and glorify God in the walk of sanctification together. To be so in love with someone that you are willing to accept that you are a sinner and that you married one, and eagerly desire to walk out a path of life with this person and God.
(3) Courted/Engaged
Definition: pledged to be married, betrothed
Looks Like: A man and women who believe that God has brought them together and that the end result will be marriage. A Godly courtship or engagement that is biblical and God edifying does not involve oral sex, heavy petting, sexual intercourse, etc. This is a chaste couple who prefer to differ from the world and desire to fight against the sin of lust and have a deep desire to wait until their wedding to be intimate.
(4) Mother
Definition: a female parent, someone that gives rise to or exercise protecting care over someone else
Looks Like: I'd love to just say read Proverbs 31 but though there are many mothers in the bible, being a mother has so many seasons and stages that there isn't enough time to cover the whole multitude. If I were to describe "mother", I would say a women who sacrificially gives of herself to her husband, children and those that God would bring about into her life. A God-fearing women that seeks to glorify the Lord in her actions of care and concern over those that the Lord has placed around her.
(5) Concubine:
Definition: a woman who cohabits with a man that she is not legally married to
Looks Like: This is the one I would say at least 90% (if not at least 80%) of women in the United States have been known as at one time or another, though not by this actual definition. This is a female who has sex with a man, cleans his house, washes his clothes, prepares meals, and generally takes care of him as if they were actually married. Many women in these types of relationships end up in sexually or physically abusive relationships due to a desire that "he may change" the more "married" they act. Chances are if a female is in this relationship, the man she cohabits with has no desire whatsoever to marry her and suffers from what some men jokingly call "The Peter Pan Syndrome". There is little chance that the couple will marry, but that if marriage is achieved somewhere down the line, it will not last very long because the relationship budded from a sex based relationship not a God based one. In this particular role, women often times bear children outside of marriage and end up a single mother, struggling to make ends met, hurting spiritually and financially with the biological father no where to be found.
(6) Whore
Definition: a female who engages in promiscuous sexual intercourse, a person considered to have compromised principles for personal gain
Looks like: A woman who has sex with a man or men while having no intent whatsoever to be married nor chaste. She is a person who has sex with single or married men, simply for the goal of achieving personal pleasure and once achieved will move onto yet another male. This individual could also be a prostitute, harlot, courtesan, strumpet and even a stripper. Anyone who would exchange sex or sexual delights in exchange for cash or other barter.
(7) Widow
Definition: a woman who has lost her husband to death but has not remarried
Looks Like: This is usually a term given to elder women who have lost their husband in some way but is not limited to those of elder age. Most elder widow's do not remarry but younger widows biblically are encouraged to wed again.
Hopefully, I've covered the vast majority of the bases but should another role come to mind I will likely add to this post or possibly elaborate even more in another post down the road.
I do hope that this brief break down reminds those of us who were shackled to sexual sin, that God almighty can redeem even the worst of sinners and make the body and soul new. And to those who are single in the struggle against sin, I encourage you to read a book by Joshua Harris titled "Sex Is Not The Problem: Lust Is", it's not just a book for men about "their" problem but about a sin problem.
Interesting follow up article in reference to today's revelation
"CSPI Urges FDA to Ban Artificial Food Dyes linked to behavior problems"
Snippet from article:
"Americans' exposure to artificial food dyes has risen sharply. According to the FDA, the amount of food dye certified for use was 12 milligrams per capita per day in 1955. In 2007, 59 mg per capita per day, or nearly five times as much, was certified for use. Dyes are used in countless foods and are sometimes used to simulate the color of fruits or vegetables. Kraft's Guacamole Dip gets its greenish color not from avocados (there are almost none) but from Yellow 5, Yellow 6, and Blue 1. The blue bits in Aunt Jemima Blueberry Waffles are blue thanks to Red 40 and Blue 2, not real blueberries.
Artificial dyes are particularly prevalent in the sugary cereals, candies, sodas, and snack foods pitched to kids. For instance, General Mills' Fruit Roll-ups and Fruit-by-the-Foot flavored snacks get their fruity colors from Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Red 40, and Blue 1. General Mills' Fruity Cheerios, Lucky Charms, and Trix also contain several of the problematic dyes, as do Kellogg's Froot Loops and Apple Jacks and Post's Fruity Pebbles.
More than a dozen American varieties of Kraft's Oscar Meyer Lunchables kids' meals contain artificial food dyes, but not so the British versions. Starburst Chews, Skittles, and M&M candies—all Mars products—contain the full spectrum of artificial colors in the U.S., but not in the U.K., where the company uses natural colorings. Even foods that aren't particularly brightly colored can contain dyes, including several varieties of macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. Betty Crocker's Au Gratin "100% Real" Potatoes are partly not real, colored as they are with Yellow 5 and Yellow 6, both derived from coal tar. Remarkably, in Britain, the color in McDonald's strawberry sauce for sundaes actually comes from strawberries; in the U.S. it comes from Red 40.
"The science shows that kids' behavior improves when these artificial colorings are removed from their diets and worsens when they’re added to the their diets," said Dr. David Schab, a psychiatrist at Columbia University Medical Center, who conducted the 2004 meta-analysis with his colleague Dr. Nhi-Ha T. Trinh. "While not all children seem to be sensitive to these chemicals, it's hard to justify their continued use in foods—especially those foods heavily marketed to young children."
Today's Revelation
I had this interesting revelation today that I know some would assume as some sort of incorrect interpretation but it just came to me and hopefully people who read the blog can understand where the imagery came in at.
Just because food looks good on the outside does not mean that it's healthy nor that the wrapper/package/skin will indicate it's health or ripeness. I've had a few friends of mine who were part of a produce group say that they found some fruit that was beautiful on the outside yet was rotten inside. Take for example the revelation by marketing that food packaged in green would appeal to consumers as being good and healthy.
Here check out the label of a box of Froot Loops cereal:
SUGAR; CORN FLOUR; WHEAT FLOUR; OAT FLOUR; PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (ONE OR MORE OF: COCONUT, COTTONSEED, AND SOYBEAN) †; SALT; SODIUM ASCORBATE AND ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C); REDUCED IRON; NATURAL ORANGE, LEMON, CHERRY, RASPBERRY, BLUEBERRY, LIME, AND OTHER NATURAL FLAVORS; RED #40; BLUE #2; YELLOW #6; ZINC OXIDE; NIACINAMIDE; TURMERIC COLOR; BLUE #1; PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6); RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2); THIAMIN HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B1); VITAMIN A PALMITATE; ANNATTO COLOR; BHT (PRESERVATIVE); FOLIC ACID; VITAMIN D; VITAMIN B12.
Anytime you see a color followed by a number your basically eating something that a scientist cooked up in some lab. If you do enough research you will find out that originally dye is derived from coal tar oil and actually contains an amount of arsenic and lead. Of course, it's a level that the FDA considers safe but come on now, exactly how much arsenic in our meals is acceptable in the first place? Oh, and not only is BHT another petroleum derivative it's an ingredient in embalming fluid.
Many consider me a health nut, but I'm actually just trying to keep my "temple" healthy so that I can spend more time serving the Lord and live out my days for as long as possible. Though our days are numbered by God we have an obligation to carefully choose what goes in our mouth, whether it gives us energy or zaps it.
