Today's Revelation

"So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate." Genesis 3:6

I had this interesting revelation today that I know some would assume as some sort of incorrect interpretation but it just came to me and hopefully people who read the blog can understand where the imagery came in at.

Just because food looks good on the outside does not mean that it's healthy nor that the wrapper/package/skin will indicate it's health or ripeness. I've had a few friends of mine who were part of a produce group say that they found some fruit that was beautiful on the outside yet was rotten inside. Take for example the revelation by marketing that food packaged in green would appeal to consumers as being good and healthy.

Here check out the label of a box of Froot Loops cereal:
SUGAR; CORN FLOUR; WHEAT FLOUR; OAT FLOUR; PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (ONE OR MORE OF: COCONUT, COTTONSEED, AND SOYBEAN) †; SALT; SODIUM ASCORBATE AND ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C); REDUCED IRON; NATURAL ORANGE, LEMON, CHERRY, RASPBERRY, BLUEBERRY, LIME, AND OTHER NATURAL FLAVORS; RED #40; BLUE #2; YELLOW #6; ZINC OXIDE; NIACINAMIDE; TURMERIC COLOR; BLUE #1; PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6); RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2); THIAMIN HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B1); VITAMIN A PALMITATE; ANNATTO COLOR; BHT (PRESERVATIVE); FOLIC ACID; VITAMIN D; VITAMIN B12.

Anytime you see a color followed by a number your basically eating something that a scientist cooked up in some lab. If you do enough research you will find out that originally dye is derived from coal tar oil and actually contains an amount of arsenic and lead. Of course, it's a level that the FDA considers safe but come on now, exactly how much arsenic in our meals is acceptable in the first place? Oh, and not only is BHT another petroleum derivative it's an ingredient in embalming fluid.

Many consider me a health nut, but I'm actually just trying to keep my "temple" healthy so that I can spend more time serving the Lord and live out my days for as long as possible. Though our days are numbered by God we have an obligation to carefully choose what goes in our mouth, whether it gives us energy or zaps it.
